Forever Young at Heart

When I was an elementary school teacher, one of my greatest joys was encouraging each student’s natural creativity. With adults, however, the creative process sometimes seems difficult. When we’re young, we’re uninhibited by accepted conventions. As we grow up, we somehow accept the (false) notion that we are not creative or artistic. This is simply not the case. A childlike creativity still lives in all of us, and that’s what this magazine is all about. Whether you have an artistic or craft background or are just getting started, I know you can use the inspiration and instructions here to tap into your inherent creativity and make something wonderful!

coloring partyDO Magazine covers the adult coloring book hobby and meditative drawing. Design Originals has published Zentangle books (a meditative drawing method) for years, and recently produced more than 40 coloring book products. It’s so fun to bring you the latest ideas in these blossoming trends!

Experts including teachers, therapists, and doctors are turning their attention to the benefits of patterning and coloring. Working through our magazine will bring you calm and relaxed satisfaction, and it’s so easy! Coloring and patterning activities can be done anywhere, do not require expensive supplies, and no experience is necessary. With coloring and patterning, there is no right or wrong, and therefore no pressure, just pure enjoyment. I know these activities will help you reconnect with the uninhibited creativity of your childhood. Explore feature articles showcasing the latest techniques, tear out a color sheet to practice right on the page, and check out the creative projects that will get your artwork off the page.

I hope you find coloring, patterning, and crafting with the ideas here as inspiring, fun, and fulfilling as I have.
